This year, I have mainly invested my time in the wiki.citydatum, accumulating more than 120 articles and more than 700 edits. Coupled with various things at work and in life, this blog has been abandoned for a whole year.

The creation of the “blog” and the “wiki” was only two days apart. In fact, their goals are the same, as written in the opening of the blog, “On the one hand, it is to urge myself to continue working in the field of quantitative urban research and record my gains; on the other hand, I also hope to make friends with like-minded people, exchange ideas, and be helpful and inspiring to those who come after me.”

I originally thought that a blog could be more casual, with more new discoveries and new ideas, and more experiments and random thoughts, while a wiki could be more serious, focusing on knowledge accumulation and sorting, with more basic and stable content. Unfortunately, I underestimated the time cost, and ended up with giving one too much time and the other one too less.

Over the past year, my desire and impulse to do something in the field of urban data analysis and quantitative urban research has not diminished with the passage of time, but has become stronger. I have been constantly striving and adjusting, and my work and interests are slowly getting closer. It is time to put more energy into fulfilling my promise to myself and try to start a blog.

After writing wiki.citydatum for a year, I feel that what I have gained is not only the accumulation of knowledge, but also many experiences and feelings beyond knowledge. Perhaps it has something to do with the domestic atmosphere and the character of the Chinese people. Not many people can calm down and concentrate on learning and thinking, and even fewer people can hold an open mind and know how to share. The development of free online encyclopedia in China cannot be summarized by the words “poor condition”. There is a huge gap compared with English Wikipedia.

If you are interested in urban data analysis and quantitative urban research, or if you want to find someone who have similar interests and do something together, come and say hello. Or take a look at wiki.citydatum Any kind suggestions or opinions are welcome!
